Engagement Rings
archived work
My intention is to make rings with diamonds that are beautiful, comfortable to wear, and that stand up to daily wear over the years.
Thus, you will notice that all the diamonds are set in full bezels (the rim of metal that surrounds the stone) made of platinum, which protects the stone from chipping on the edge, holds it safely, and presents a smooth contour which does not catch on clothing. The main body of the ring is usually in 18k yellow gold, although I also use platinum and 18k “white” gold.
Most of the diamonds I use are antique stones– that is, diamonds which were actually cut in the late 19th or early 20th century and are of “old mine” or “European” cut. These stones generally have a more “architectural” look; that is, they have a higher profile when seen from the side… they are not so flat as modern cut diamonds.
They also usually have a smaller table, or top facet. I prefer the old stones for many reasons… they are more individual in look, often are somewhat less expensive than modern stones, and they are genuine antiques. Occasionally, if there is wear on the stone, I have it re-polished (but not reshaped) so it looks like new.
Below are archived examples of engagement rings. You will see styles and variations of pieces which are not currently available. To inquire about them refer to the letter designation.
